Flight Path will celebrate 20 years of service to the aviation community on October 1 with a festive Gala benefit at the Flight Path Museum in the LAX Imperial Terminal, 6661 W. Imperial Highway, Los Angeles.  Themed, “Flying Into the Future: Celebrating Two Decades,” the Gala will showcase Flight Path’s mission in preserving Southern California’s air heritage and encouraging youth to pursue careers in aviation and aerospace.

The Gala, scheduled from 5 to 9 p.m., will feature an international buffet, a wide selection of beverages and entertainment, plus airport tours, according to Flight Path President Nancy Niles. Reservations at $100 donation per person and other information are available by calling (424) 646-7284 or emailing flightpathguides@lawa.org/ .  Sponsorship opportunities with priority seating and special recognition also are offered.

“This year’s Gala will keep formalities to a minimum,” said Niles.  “We want our guests to enjoy the outstanding exhibits, escorted tours and wonderful food and beverages.”

The museum is operated by nonprofit Flight Path, organized in 1995 to develop and promote the museum and learning center.  Flight Path also includes an Aviation Walk of Fame in the Westchester business district north of LAX, featuring sidewalk plaques spotlighting aviation luminaries and an adjacent display of Honorary Service Awards saluting those making significant contributions to the airport community.

Emphasizing Flight Path’s educational mission, each Gala features presentation of the Clay Lacy and Charles “Pete” Conrad scholarships to students planning careers in aviation. Entertainment will include a band, caricature artist and photo booth. Guests will have an opportunity to view aviation memorabilia and flight simulators as well as vintage and contemporary aircraft.  Robert Acherman of the Flight Path Board is coordinating arrangements.

Flight Path is operated in cooperation with Los Angeles World Airports, the City agency which operates LAX. The museum is open to the public from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday. Admission and parking are free.  For information call (424) 646-7284, email flightpathguides@lawa.org  or visit the museum website www.flightpathmuseum.com/ .
