bookcoverA new book describing 30 years of presentations by SCAA to outstanding leaders in aviation and aerospace has been published and is available to members and other interested people, SCAA president Nissen Davis said.

The book, entitled “Aeronautics Pioneers,” is an update of a volume the Association first published after the 25th presentation of its annual Howard Hughes Memorial Award. The fully illustrated new edition contains capsule biographies of Hughes and all 30 persons who have received the award named for him, including the five honored since the first book was issued in 2004.

The 74-page paperback, which is a veritable “who’s who” of contemporary aeronautics leaders whose careers involved Southern California, was written by SCAA members Bill Schoneberger Sr., Nissen Davis, Jim Ragsdale and Alan Wayne.

Davis said a copy of the new book—which was distributed to those who attended the HHMA banquet in February—is available without charge to current SCAA members. Those members who may not yet have a copy may request one by contacting the SCAA office at (310) 331-1551.

Non-members may obtain a copy by making a contribution of $15 to the SCAA Scholarship Fund. That amount will include shipping costs. It may be paid by mailing a check to the SCAA office, or by credit card using the PayPal button that appears below.
