Julian Malevanets
Julian is a Propulsion Manufacturing Engineer at SpaceX, where he develops and refines manufacturing processes for the Raptor engine used on the Starship rocket. Prior to joining the Raptor team, Julian spent three years as a Structures Manufacturing Engineer, working on the primary structure and thermal protection systems of the Dragon crew and cargo capsules that fly to the International Space Station. He graduated from the University of Michigan in 2021 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and a concentration in Manufacturing.
Before SpaceX, Julian held engineering internships at Bosch, Pratt & Miller, and Uber ATG. During his time at Michigan, he was an active member of the Michigan Baja Racing Team, where he worked on suspension and chassis design for off-road competition vehicles. Julian’s early passion for automotive motorsport ultimately evolved into a love for aerospace, driven by a desire to push engineering limits to orbital applications and tackle some of the most exciting challenges in the field while helping make space more accessible.
In his free time, Julian enjoys skiing, volleyball, and golfing. As a proud co-founder of the Young Professionals Group, he is passionate about sharing his love for aerospace and inspiring the next generation of aero enthusiasts and engineers.
